I need to replace my pool pump motor in a 20,000 gallon salt pool. I currently have a WFE-4 WhisperFlo pump with a 1.0HP (1.65 SF) 56Y frame. Is it possible to replace this motor with a Variable speed motor. If so, which one would you recommend? Thank you.

We do have a variable speed pump motor that can replace your Whisperflo WFE-4 motor. The model number is ECM16SQU. Keep in mind that the variable speed will only operate on 208-230v.

Thank you. I see this is a 48Y vs a 56Y. I have not changed one before. Will I need some sort of piece to fit into the mtor base to hold it up since it is a smaller diameter?

The motor comes with a rubber bumper that you can use on the pump base to prop it up a little bit.
