It appears i need to replace the impeller on  my hayward pump. The item # is SPX4010CKIT. However I found out this part is discontinued and anyone that miraculously has one cannot ship it to California for some reason.

What I've been told is to just buy a whole new pump. Can I just buy any 1.5hp pump? Or is there an adequate replacement ? It's a salt water pool if that makes any difference. Any help is much  appreciated

Hi Marigold, we have no idea why Hayward quit making the NorthStar pump parts.  Due to the Title 20 regulations in California, we need to recommend a salt-friendly variable-speed replacement for you like this PureLine PL2705 Prime VS - Variable Speed Pool Pump 1.65 HP.  Your old pump could operate on 110 volts and the variable-speed pumps require 220 volts, so be sure you have the proper power at your equipment pad.

Program it properly and you can really save on your utility bill.

I think you just buy any 1.5hp pump? I'm also wondering if it's okay?
