Hello,

Our current pool pump has taken on multiple leaks and jb weld can no longer save me .

We have a 33,000 gallon pool with a sand filter and the inlet/outlet pipes are sized at 1.5. The current motor is 3/4hp. I've attached a link to pictures of the current setup. Any recommendations from variable speed to regular speed would be great

Thanks

Hi Gene, that pump is a little bigger than you think.  The B2847V1 motor that is powering your Pinnacle Pump is actually closer to 1.25HP.  See our guide on Are All Motors Created Equal? for a better explanation.

You could replace the pump housing and add a GOKIT24 for new seals or, if you would rather upgrade everything to variable-speed, this Pentair SuperFlo® VS 1.5 HP Variable Speed Pool Pump - EC-342001 would be an excellent choice!  A variable-speed pump can really save you quite a bit on your electric bill when it is set up properly.

Thanks for the reply, I have looked at the Pentair and the only problem is that they only offer a 60 day warrenty if I install it. I also was looking at the Waterway PD-140, which seems to have good feedback with a 2 year warrenty. Is this a good pump? Would it work on my pool? And will I get the 2 years even if I install it? Also since my piping is 1.5 does it come with adapters or would I need to get those?

The PD-140 pump has proven to be a great and reliable pump and would be a perfect replacement for your Pinnacle pump.  You will get the 2-year warranty if you install it yourself.  It comes with 2" unions, but you can get a reducer at your local home center to get it to 1-1/2".

Variable-speed units are a great choice to make when buying a new pump or motor since they can save you quite a bit on your utility bill when they are set up properly.
