I have a DE filter and I removed and cleaned all the grids about a month ago. Now over the past week my pressure has been shooting up to 30psi daily. I backwash and recharge with DE and it get the pressure down to about 17psi, but by the next day it is up to 30psi again. Is this normal?

More than likely it's just algae. I would shock it again. It should turn a cloudy white color when the algae is dead.

Well now I have a new problem. Since the chlorine was low from doing the stain treatment. I started to see yellowish green algae starting to grow on the walls, so I shocked the pool last night and let the filter run all night and now the pool is green. Is this from the algae or metals in the water?

You're welcome and good luck!

Ok I guess that makes sense. Thanks for the insight.

I think small debris from the stain treatment is clogging up the filter and causing the PSI to rise. You may have to keep backwashing until all of it is removed and the water is clear.

Another option would be to use a Floc and Vac type product. This is a chemical that is added to the pool and it causes everything to drop to the floor. You can then vacuum the debris to waste. That way you don't have to keep cleaning the filter.

Water is normally crystal clear but I have recently done a stain treatment and the water is cloudier than normal. Not extremely cloudy but enough where I can’t clearly see the bottom of the deep end.

It's not normal if the pool water is clear. It is normal if the pool water is cloudy or green. How does the water look?
