Can't Keep DE Out of Pool

I always have a fine layer of DE in my gunite pool (on steps and on bottom) even though the Polaris runs daily.  I have replaced the spider gasket and the multiport valve and the DE filters (they are rectangular plates) -- all multiple times.  Does anyone know how the DE is getting back into the pool?

For lack of a better idea, I am planning to replace my Sta-Rite S7D75 filter.

Appreciate any thoughts, guidance, etc.

BTW, had Leslie's and some other service people out but they are all clueless.

One common cause for d.e. returning to the pool is adding too much powder. The Sta-Rite S7D75 only requires 3.7 pounds of d.e.

Another cause could be a crack in the plastic manifold that holds the de grids.

Thanks for the feedback.  I use the DE sparingly and have also replaced two manifolds.  Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
