Broken Impeller

During routine maitenance on my pump today, I was changing out all the o-rings and gaskets, shaft seal, ect.  I put the pump back together and started up the pump/filter.  About 3 minutes into running, heard bang inside my pump.  Tore the pump down again and discovered that the impeller had seperated from the shaft.  Now my question is how do I get the remaining piece off the shaft.  I have held the one end with a wrench but I cannot get enough leverage to turn the old remaining brass fitting off.  Any suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

Just a follow up to this issue.  I bought a new motor as the process of trying to cut off the old piece was proving to be very time consuming and difficult.  I will delay cutting this off until the late fall when the temperture decreases.  I installed the new impeller and motor with new seals and gaskets.  Pump is back and running smoothly.  As always, Inyopools rocks in getting parts when needed.

Thanks

Jim

Thank you for contacting Inyo. I would suggest using a small strap wrench. That should allow you to get the brass fitting off of the shaft.

Didn't help.  Tried everything.  Now resorting to using a cut off on the dremal to remove this. Will follow up to let you know how that went.  I did order a replacement pump.

Thanks for the update. We have seen some pool owners resort to the dremel. Good luck!
