Does your pool pump need to be on when lowering your total alkalinity and do you pour it in one spot of your pool?

Hi herrera,
There are two ways to lower your alkalinity and they are Muriatic acid and sodium bisulfate or dry acid.
For either method turn the pool pump off and when pouring the solution into the pool make sure you have a tight narrow stream as you want the acid to go deep in the pool water. You can apply the acid in the deep end or walk around the pool either method is fine. For the dry acid, you will dissolve in a bucket prior to administering to the pool and the rest of the process would be the same as above. Normally you will want the pump off for an hour before applying the chemicals and an hour after applying the chemicals.
Thank You
