Winter plug sucked into line

While shutting down my pool for the winter I encountered a real problem. I had plugged one of the return lines to let the air run through and was going to plug the other one. When I put the plug in the pipe it was immediately sucked into the pipe. The plug is now about 6 to 8 inches into the pipe a stuck there. I have tried blowing it out with the air compressor, sucking it out with a wet/dry vac, grabbing it with a flexible pick up tool, a magnet doesn't work and thin cooking tongs can't grab anything.

Any thoughts or ideas ?

Hello Bill - Have you tried using a drain cleaning water bladder? You attach the bladder to the end of a garden hose. Then you stick the bladder into the pipe and turn the water on. The bladder expands and forces water through the tube.
