17K gal. inground pool.  Swapping old de filter for new sand filter.  1 company suggested 220 t filter with 52 gpm while the 2nd company suggested 244 t with 62 gpm.  I don't know the current flow rate, but the de filter has 36 sq ft of filter grids and a 3/4 hp motor.

Will the larger 244 t  sand filter work, be better than the 220 or will it do harm or be less effective than the 244?

Thank you for contacting Inyo. We'd recommend the Hayward S244T. The designed flow rate will be closer to your current 36 sq ft DE filter. Also, you won't have to clean the S244T as often as you would the S220T.

Thank you so very much.  You people are the best and most helpful.  The S244T is the one I really wanted and, in addition, the total cost is $78 less, which is always a good thing. Inyo is my go to source for the best and correct advice.  And you're prompt, too.  Thanks again, Carol
