My pool is about 14,000 gallons I do have solar heat and the cleaner currently runs off the skimmer. No water features. Currently the pump that is in use has been there since I moved in, no name on the pump itself the plate on the motor states its a 1hp Century USQ1102 (has a sticker from a local electric motor repair place) so thinking this was a replacement. Pump had been running fine, now it will overheat and shut down after about 5hrs. I would rather go with a variable speed motor but just been going in circles trying to determine what I need.
- pool 14K gallons (14,000 / 8hrs =1,750 GPH / 60 = 29.2 GPM?
- TDH 50.32? (so put gauges vacuum and pressure guage on pump) and got 20 Hg vacuum and 12 PSI (20 x 1.13) + (12 x 2.31) 22.6 + 27.72 = 50.32 Note: I did this with all valves wide open, clean filter and valves to solar open. Just assuming that this is close as I know the pump is working at a diminished capacity
- Pool plumbing is 2", and pump has 2" inlet and outlet.
So would a 1.5hp Variable speed pump work?
