I had a top of the line 3 hp Intelliflow VSF variable speed pump installed for my 25,000 gallon inground pool with a spa. I have a separate Polaris booster pump for the Polaris 380 cleaner. I have disabled The water feature.

I discovered recently that when I set the pump to greater than 50 gallons per minute, it reaches a pressure limit warning, and that bothers me. Even at a setting of 80 gallons per minute, the pressure inside the filter is between 10 and 20 psi.

what I need to know, is how many gallons per minute is the appropriate maximum for this system? It has maybe 60 feet of head, (horizontal) and it's running standard 2 inch pipe. I calculated that 50 gallons per minute, It will filter the entire pool in eight hours. I guess that's OK. I just don't know what I should be looking for.

I do realize that I did not need a 3 hp pump for the system, but it was too late, and I had already installed the pump.
