The motor bearings went bad in my ultra-flow pump and need to replace the motor. The pool was installed in 2000. I converted to salt water about 4 years ago and I suspect the seal went bad so will also need the PS-3865 salt water seal as well. I have everything apart and the 4 nuts and lockwashers removed, but I can't separate the motor from the seal plate. There was a lot of white deposits around the motor flange and seal plate and on the 4 studs. I have tried cleaning it off by scrubbing with soap and water, letting it sit in a water vinegar solution and finally a muratic solution trying to disolve the deposts. I have spayed wd-40 all around the rim and stud threads, but no luck. Any ideas?
I see that the almond colored seal plate (357143) is no available, but there is a black seal plate (5106-210) available. My seal plate has what looks like a metal cup that is attached with RTV sealant on the inside. I don't see this in the parts diagram but I think it is part of the Seal 1000 shaft seal. If I can separate the motor and seal plate should I also pry off and replace the metal cup? If I can't separate the seal plate from the motor, I will also get a new black seal plate.
Thanks
