I currently have a hayward super II pump runing 1.5 hp dual speed motor (Century b977 230v 56J). My motor is shot, and I was thinking of changing to a variable speed pump motor. I have a salt system, so I'm not sure if it's worth the extra cost (southwest Florida I pay about .095 per KWH. I have seen that the salt system will shut down below a certian RPM. I was thinking as long as long as enough hours are run at a higher speed to produce enough chlorine (maybe set it to a higher percentage also) It may have value to switch.
What are my motor options for variable speed?
Does using the solar make a difference in RPM needed as well.
Thank You, Stef
