I have a PE5D-181L 3/4 HP AO smith motor attached to a PE5D-181L Sta-Rite pump.

It is leaking. I took it apart yesterday and for the life of me the impeller is stuck on the shaft.

I do not have an impeller screw on mine. But I have followed the directions here:

http://www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how-to-replace-a-sta-rite-max-e-pro-pump-impeller.aspx

And here: http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/DuraGlasOM.pdf

I have also tried a strap wrench. I am turning in the counter-clockwise direction.

I bought the motor in 2013 from INYO pools.

Any suggestions on getting the impeller off would be welcome. I need to install a new seal. I also got the GOKit54 in 2007 and still have that seal from that purchase. It is new.

Ideas?

Hi Dgreeley,

Here is a good Video on Removing a Stuck Pool Pump Impeller this requires that you remove the complete armature from the motor and put the armature in a vice grip and then you can get a better grip on the impeller with your strap wrench, the video goes into further detail on the process. I hope this helps!
