Smaller pool need smaller pump/filter

I recently reconfigured our pool from 20x40 to 20x15. We had 2 skimmers and 2 returns. now we have 1 skimmer and 1 return. we have a 1HP Hayward super pump and Pro series high rate snad filter. 20GPM/ft.

Question; Pump wont seem to prime. It runs decent but no pressure and wont ever fully fill pump resevoir. Should i have kept 2 skims and 2 returns. Im pretty certain i dont have a suction issue.(already replaced source side gaskets)

It seems to me now that i may not have enough water coming in quick enough. inlet is 1 1/4 and fully open in bottom of skimmer.

please advise

Hi leamichael,

Yes if you could increase your 1-1/4" pipe to 2' that would be ideal also any 90's you can return on the suction side or the return side plumbing would help out a lot. Can you post a photo to this thread of your plumbing? Below are instructions on how to post an image.
