Sizing a Replacement VS Pump

I'm in need of some assistance.

I have an old large, kidney shaped diving pool. I calculated the pool volume to be 24,000 gallons.

I took some pressure/vacuum readings at the pump and calculated 66 feet of head on the pump when at 65 gpm of flow.  I have one 1.5-inch suction line and two 1.5-inch return lines.  My filter is a Pentair TR60 sand filter with a 60 gpm flow rate with a slide valve.

I do not have a spa or any water features.  I have a Barracuda G3 suction side pool cleaner and an Ecomatic salt system.

I currently have a 1HP Pentair WhisperFlo WFE-4 single speed pool pump that is dying, and I want to replace it with a variable speed pump.

I am trying to decide between the 1.5HP Pentair VS 342001 or the 3HP Pentair IntelliFlo 011018.  I am leaning towards the VS 342001 since its pump curve at full speed matches the pump curve of the existign WFE-4 pump, and it is $300 cheaper.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello John - We would recommend the Pentair 342001 VS pump. The 1.5HP suits your pool specifications better than the 3HP. The 3HP would be overkill for your 1.5" lines and TR60 filter.
