How often do people change the sand in the filter?

Not sure but I just had to replace my broken sand filter and the sand inside was very clean and in the previous homeowners documents I saw it was last replaced 10 yrs ago

Hello Legend - Most pool owner's get 5-7 years out of their sand but it's different with every pool. You'll know it's time to replace the sand when you backwash the filter and the pressure gauge doesn't drop at all.
