Replacing Hayward SP0583SL100 light bulb with color LED

The default light bulb that came with my Hayward SP0583SL100 is no longer working. I'd ideally like to replace it with a color LED light bulb. What are my options towards this? Can I change the bulb as-is with a new LED bulb or does it require new housing as well?

Thanks,

Ashwin

Thank you for the great feedback, Dave!

Ashwin, check out our guide titled "How to Upgrade Your Pool Light to an LED Color Changing Light". It has step by step instructions for installing the bulb.

I replaced my bulb with a multi-color LED array (that looks almost exactly like the Pureline array suggested by InyoRob). I'm sorry, I can't find the part number or my receipt, but it was super easy to do. You will need a helping hand. It's basically a direct swap out. Be sure to replace the water-tight gaskets. I am so impressed by the LEDs. We hardly ever used the white light bulb before because it was so expensive to run (300W), then one time it just blew out which really made me mad. We use the LEDs almost every time we have people in the pool or just around it. We love it.

Good luck.

Dave

Hello Ashwin - We do carry LED bulbs that will fit in your Hayward Astrolite light fixture. We recommend the Pureline PureColors model PL5809. This LED bulb is equivalent to a 300 watt incandescent bulb.

We recommend replacing the lens gasket when you replace the bulb. The lens gasket is part number 3550-24.
