I need to replace my pool pump and need some help making sure I’m going back with the correct size motor. The pool is approximately 19,000 gallons and approximately 55 feet of head. I did have a Hayward super pump sp1607z1m but it has burnt up and needs replacing, I don’t think this was originally sized when it was replaced. And have a Hayward cartdrige filter model#c12002.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also some input on the filter if it is sized correctly as well

A 1HP Hayward Super Pump is sufficient for a 19,000 gallon pool with 55' of head. You can replace the complete pump with model SP3007X10AZ.

Another option would be to replace the motor and seals on your existing pump. The motor would be model UST1102 and the seal kit is GOKIT3.

The Hayward C12002 is appropriately sized for your pool.

Do you think it would be ok to go up to a 1.5 hp motor? We have had issues with it priming in the past. Would it hurt to go up just a little?

Yes, you could go up to a 1.5HP motor. The 1.5HP motor would be model UST1152. You'd also want to upgrade the impeller. The 1.5HP impeller would be part number 5110-10DA.
