I was given a 24' pool recently steel in construction.  I would like to use the pool as a salt water pool and therefore would like to change all top components and vertical ribs to vinyl.  So basically,  my question is this:

Is it more cost effective to just run the given pool a few years and then buy a salt pool complete kit at that time?

Or is it even possible to fit a given 24' pool ring with material of choice? And where can I find a dealer in replacement pool rails? Is the cost to switch equal to just buying another pool later?

Hello Dave - The top rails on some pools can be converted to resin. They have to be designed for your specific pool so that they match up with all the other components. A rough estimate on replacing all the top rails would be $700-$1000. The price would obviously be higher if you have to replace top plates, stabilizers and top caps.

Do you know the make and model of the pool?
