Help! Drop in fiberglass(I think) pool was here when we bought the house. 7 years later, losing one inch a night. In NH and late in the season so I let it leak. It went below the skimmer and still leaked. Plugged all the returns and still leaked. Shut the main drain off and it stopped. Makes no sense. Local pool company’s keep pushing we off to others. Thoughts?

We'd be glad to assist you. Without seeing the pool, my guess would be that it was a coincidence that it stopped when you closed the main drain valve. If the leak were in the main drain or plumbing, it would continue to leak when you closed the valve by the equipment pad.
Possible leaks by the drain would be the from the main drain gasket or from a bad hydrostatic relief valve.
Where did the water level stop? Did it stop at the light?

Thanks for answering. No, it stopped about 3 inches below the skimmer and almost level with the returns. Not even close to the lights

It could be a leak from one of the return seals. If that's not it, i'd hire a leak detection company.
