I have a 1HP P6EeE-206L Sta-Rite Max-E-Pro pump that I think is oversized for my pool.  The pool is approximately 10,000 gallons.  What would be the best options for a replacement pump to save $$ on electricity and keep the pool circulating?  It shows a max Amps of 8 at 230v.  I would think I could go to a 1/2 hp pump, but would have to change the impeller or go with a 1 hp variable speed pump.  I'm a very good DIY person.   What would you recommend for the best return on investment $$?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

I would suggest replacing your motor with this Variable Speed Replacement Motor if you wanted to be able to take advantage of the higher HP range of this variable speed motor then you would need to replace your impeller with this 1.5 HP Max E Pro ImpellerYou will save a ton on your operational costs by upgrading to a Variable Speed Motor normally 50%-70%.  Here is an article we wrote on the Energy Savings of a Single Speed Pool Pump Vs. a Variable Speed Pool Pump.

Thank You

Patrick
