Hello Doug - I would start with adding the correct amount for a 35k pool. This would be 1,000 pounds of salt.
You can always add more salt if the pool is closer to 40k.

1000 pounds of salt that is lgoing to be very expensive. And where can I get that from Walmart Lowe's or somebody like that

Most big box stores will carry pool salt. The bags run $8-$10 a piece for 40-50 pounds. The good news is that you'll never have to add that much again.
