Hello,
I have an outdoor, screened-in, 16000 gallon in ground pool with one skimmer, a 1HP Century Centurion motor on a Pentair pump with a Pentair CC150 cartridge filter.
Issue is that there are constantly small debris particles in the pool that you really only see when you're in the water. It's things like small grass bits, small insect parts, miscellaneous small bits of who knows..
The pump typically runs 8 hours a day, but I have left if running for up to 48 hours trying to get the small debris.
How can I get this small stuff out of the water?

I'd recommend using some water clarifier as well as a skimmer sock. A skimmer sock looks like a nylon stocking that slips onto your skimmer basket and helps catch that smaller stuff.

Following the recommendation to use a skimmer sock, but also indulging my desire to spend as little as necessary, I followed a user on a seperate forum who used a gallon sized paint filter fitted over the weir basket. That worked extremely well. In a few days, the filter had tons of the small particles in it and the water has cleared up considerably. I rinse the filter every couple of days and we have been extremely pleased. Of course, this makes me question the effectiveness of the big fabric filter.

The paint filter is a good idea. When it comes time to replace the filter, you might want to consider a DE filter. The DE filter will catch the finer debris that a cartridge filter won't. The only downside is that you have to mess with DE powder.
