New Raypak Model 406A pool heater displays the water temp 8 or more degrees too high. The heater therefore turns off way before reaching desired temp. Other than that it works fine.

Good morning. this may be a sign of a faulty temperature sensor. I would suggest since it is new, to contact the retailer that you purchased it through because it may be covered under warranty. If you purchased it with us please contact our customer service department by clicking here to chat.

I don't believe it's the sensor itself. Because when the using is not heating, the water temperature is correct. It's only when the unit is heating that the temperature reads high.

Also per RayPaks troubleshooting guide, if the sensor is not properly mounted to the header it may give you false readings. RayPak's warranty policy includes having a technician perform an onsite inspection to confirm the issue then resolve it. Being brand new, we definitely suggest contacting them as they may be able to complete this on-site service. Their contact number (805) 278-5300
