How much condensation should I expect with my new Haywood 140,000 BTU heat pump.  It’s been very humid and seems like am getting a lot of condensation.  I tested the water no chlorine and nothing when running pump and heater off.

Thanks

Hello Mike - Thank you for contacting Inyo. We contacted a Hayward tech and below was his response.

If no chlorine is found in the water around a heat pump then that is a very good sign it isn't pool water, but I'd also test the pool's water for the chlorine level.  Not trying to complicate things, but I have seen some very low levels of chlorine or no levels of chlorine at all in a body of water.   At high humidity, you can expect a heat pump to discharge as much as one gallon of condensation collected from the air.  If the heat pump is turned off for a while and the filter pump is still running, but no water is accumulating around the heat pump then it is a fairly safe assumption that this is not water from the pool's circulation systems leaking out of the heat pump.

Thank you for the update and picture. It does appear that you are experiencing normal condensation.
