I noticed I have a slight leak on my fliter plumbing from the motor housing to the fliter. It appears these joints are hard-plumbed with pvc cement and do not use unions. At least I'm guessing since there are threads on the outside of the motor housing and there doesn't appear a way to disconnect it.
Since I need to install a backwash valve so I plan to just replace all the piping from the motor to the filter (it's at wierd angles and stuff), but will this cause a problem to the motor housing since it's cemented in place? I'm hoping I could just cut the output pipe off at the motor and use unions to connect the new piece to the backwash valve/filter.
I've included a picture.
