Why is debris collecting INSIDE the DE filters instead of collecting on the outside? The filters are full of debris on the inside and look like balloons or pillows.

Was the DE filter recently installed or re-plumbed? We have heard of DE filters being plumbed backwards, causing the water to be pushed out of the grids instead of in.

Yes, we had to pool resurfaced in February and have been having this problem ever since.

How do i know if the pool contractor put in it in backwards?

There is usually something embossed on the ports that say "Pump" and "Return". The line from the pump should go to "Pump" and the line returning to the pool should come out of "Return".
If you can't find anything like that, let us know the make/model of the filter valve.
