Algae bloom - Leaving town

Brand new pool owner here! I have a saltwater pool, sand filter.

I have a moderate green algae bloom right now. I just added salt today (salt was low), and will superchlorinate tomorrow after it dissolves.

I've read through all the articles on the website about treating algae (very helpful), but the problem is, I'll be out of town Thursday afternoon-Sunday (it's currently Tuesday night). Should I go ahead and start treatment before I leave (just set the pump to run constantly while I'm gone after adding algaecide), or should I wait until Monday to get started? Can I start treating the algae while I'm superchlorinating tomorrow?

Thank you!

Hello Chaille - Sorry for the delayed response. You may have already left town. Some algaecides require that you shock the pool again after 24-48 hours. If that's the case, I would wait until Monday. Otherwise, the algaecide and chlorine will be used up and you won't be around to bring the chlorine level back up.
