My sand filter is leaking into the back wash hose. Pool people say cannot fix need to replace. My question is will it hurt to run the filter if we cap off the back wash hose when not using it. Only for the rest of the summer

Good afternoon Helen. Most often this is caused by the spider gasket failing within the valve and yes you can close off that line to avoid leaking. Please keep in mind that your first step is to confirm the model of the valve to cross-reference the correct gasket.
