I currently use a 3/4 hp whisperflo as my skimmer pump. I am going to change it out with a VS pump. I am also in need of a booster pump to run a pool cleaner. Can I convert the whisperflo to a booster pump? Would I need a new volute, or just run it through the basket assembly. My existing pipe (which after ten years, I just noticed I have) appears to be a 1" pvc pipe. I am worried that the whisperflo is too powerful and if I can reduce the 2" openings on the pump to 1", but I hate to waste this pump and spend money on another.

Hello Cklspd - We would not recoomend trying to use a Whisperflo as the booster pump. Choking it down to 1" lines could cause the pump to cavitate and fail prematurely. We would recommend the Polaris Booster Pump model PB460.
