My inground pool loses water while covered with the winter safety cover . The cover is new. Can not find any evidence of leaks while the pool is uncovered. Is is possible if the cover gets to heavy with rainwater for water to be "pushed out" through the skimmer? Does the winterized position leave the valves open for water departure? Where is my water going in the winter?

Hello CCans23,
The pool cover would really have no bearing on the water leaking out of the pool. Leaks are commonly found in or around the skimmer, around the pool light, or possible around the return jets. You may also have a cracked pipe somewhere in your system. You may want to consult a local leak detection company to assist in finding where the leak is coming from.
