Water feature leaks when turned off

My water feature leaks water while off but only when pump is running. I have a Hayward GVA-24 valve actuator on what I believe is a Jandy valve. Let me put it out there that I am new to owning a pool. I am assuming that the valve is not closing all the way, although it appears, by looking at the handle position, that it is fully closed. I will be removing the actuator and lubricating the Orings per the manual but I do not think that will solve my issue. Are there Orings in the valve itself that may have gotten pinched and therefore allows a small amount of water to pass through? Any suggestions/ recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks so much,

Hi Gyoung,

Would it be possible to take a few pictures of the valve and the water feature and post back to this thread? Do you have a check valve in your plumbing sometimes this can be a source of leaking water.

Thank You

Patrick

I don't believe there is a check valve in line with water feature.

Hi Gyoung,

Thanks so much for the photos those are super helpful! My suggestion would be to replace the diverter within the valve, the diverter is the portion of the valve that creates the seal to seal off the water, and what you are experiencing is typically from a bad diverter. For your valve, you will require this Diverter Replacement Kit for Jandy Valves. We do have this part in stock ready to ship!

Thank You

Patrick,

thanks so much. I am going to try to lubricate it first though. I bought the house last year and I would be willing to bet the previous homeowners never did any maintenance on the valves. If the lube doesn't work will definitely be back to get the diverter valve.

So the valve I have requires lubrication. Can I replace the diverter valve with the never lube diverter?

I have another Jandy valve for my main drain and skimmer that is always open. I swapped them for now but will order 2 new ones here in the near future. They are both 6-8 years old and do not appear to have ever been serviced until this year. I just bought the house last year and am still learning about everything and making a service schedule to keep track of it all.
