I have an inground pool and it's winterized by a pool company in November. This morning I noticed that water coming out of 2 drain plugs under the pump strainer basket of Pentair Intelliflow pump. Any idea what's going on? Pool is covered and I can't see if one of plugs to skimmer got loose or something.

Thanks in advance

Hello AIKErsu,

The first glaring thing I noticed is the drain plugs are missing. The pump should have two Drain Plugs as shown in this photo:

These drain plugs have o-rings on them to prevent water leakage. If you need to replace them, you can click on the link provided above to view the product and the current pricing.

drain plugs are removed during winterization so that's not the problem. there's not supposed to be any water in the pipes after closing the pool.

Hello AIKErsu,

If you have a spa or hot tub that sits higher than the pool, and a check valve or pipe plug has failed, then that could also explain why water is coming out of the of the pump.

the problem turned out to be the check valve seal that shuts off the main pipe. my pool guy installed a new check valve and all is good now.
