Salt Water Chlorinator

I have a Compu Pool salt water generator with a CPSC36 cell that is good for up to a 40,000 gallon pool.  My pool is 22K but I still need to add a pound of shock each week even with running the system at 100% 18 hours a day.  I use Calcium Hypochlorite shock but leave the salt water generator off for 8 hour when I do that.  I was told by my pool supply store that will ruin the cell due to scaling.  I asked if I clean the cell with muriatic acid would it return the cell to normal fucntioning and was told "No" that the cell would be damaged.  Looking for a second opinion as to how  Calcium Hypochite damages the cell.  Thanks

I spoke with one of our technicians and he stated the following...

Patrick I don't think it will damage the cell but it will cause scale build up over time, which will mean that you will need to clean your cell more often.

Thank You

Hi Steven123,

I have never heard of Cal Hypo ruining your salt cell. Let me get with a few of the guys here to see what they have to say about that.

Thanks
