Hi, we have a green pool! We have a Hayward Aquarite.  We believe the salt cell needs to be replaced as it is about 8 years old. The indicator lights on the control panel are not working. Power light isn't on but the digital readings work. The "amps" are at 0 which we read is an indication we need a new cell. Could there be a problem with the control panel as well since none of the lights are working? Or is that normal when the cell goes bad? Thank you!!

Whatever you normally add to shock the pool, double or triple that. As soon as the pool turns cloudy white, you've killed the algae. Then you just need to filter it out.

Thank you!!!! We replaced the circuit board and got it working last night! However because this starting when we wrre on vacation and then waiting on parts it was over  a week of no chlorination, pool is very murky. I've added shock the last 2 nights but no change. We will run it 24 hours for several days on superchlorinate. Is there anything else we can do to help get rid of algae buildup? I've been brushing down the sides everyday as well. Thanks so much for your help!

Those indicator lights should be working even if the cell is not generating chlorine. Check out the troubleshooting flow chart below as well as the complete troubleshooting guide.
