I need to replace my mother's Pentair-branded 7-177450-03 motor. 1HP/1.65 SF, Y56Y mount. I am in California, so I'd need a dual or variable speed motor. Is the ECM16SQU the correct replacement here? I didn't get a look at the pump, but I'm betting it's a WhisperFlo - would it be something else? I can go back and look if needed.
You are correct - the Title 20 regulations in California won't allow us to sell you the B2841V1 motor but the Variable Speed - ECM16SQU will be a perfect replacement and it will also save you on your electric bill. Don't forget to check with your local city or utility company to see if you can get a rebate on it too. PLEASE NOTE that the variable-speed motors operate on 220 volts only and need an adapter to interface with an automation system if you have one.
The Tune-Up Kits and shaft seals are specific to the model to the pump and not the motor modle. Let us know what the model of the pump is that the motor attaches to so we can recommend a new motor shaft seal or tune-up kit for a leak-free installation.
I verified today the pump is a WhisperFlo. Are there different models of WhisperFlo I need to determine?
Nope! This Tune-Up Kit Pentair/Purex Whisperflo - GOKIT32 will work on all of the WF, WFE & WFDS Series of WhisperFlo pumps.

Correct. The impeller and other internal parts of the pump last a long time in a properly maintained pool. Side note: You may want to get the Seal Plate Gasket - G-413 if your WhisperFlo is manufactured before 1/31/2008. Only the newer Seal Plate Gasket - After 02-01-08 - 357100 is in the Tune-Up Kit (GOKIT32).
