I am in CA.

My filter motor, K48K2PA105C1, stopped working. I would like to replace this with something that is more efficient, if possible.

I found this which states its an exact replacement.

First question: Is this a drop in replacement?

Second question: what is a good variable speed replacement motor model? What other changes are needed if I use a variable speed motor?

Thank you for your time

Yes, the QC1072 would be a drop-in replacement. However, California requires that all replacement motors be multiple speed. The variable speed motor option would be model ECM16SQU

We'd also recommend replacing the seals when you replace the motor. Do you know the make and model of the pump side?

If you can't determine the model of the pump, post a picture and we'll identify it.
