I have a B975T 1hp two speed pump mated to a hayward Super pump. When I start the pump on the high speed setting it hums and immediately goes into thermal overload shut down  .If I start it on the low speed setting it runs normally. Is there a way to troubleshoot this?

Hi Frankan9,

Normally this issue is from a bad capacitor or a bad phase winding. The capacitor can be replaced, to determine which capacitor you require I would need for you to supply me all the specs that are written on the capacitor. If the capacitor does not fix the issue then most likely it is a bad phase winding which is not replaceable and would mean you would require this B2975T 1 HP Dual Speed Replacement Motor.

Thank You

I attempted to separate the rear cover from the pump to check the capacitor, but the screws where coroded and felt like they would snap rendering the unit inoperable. I have ordered the B2975T replacement motor.I would like to rebuild the faulty B975T motor could you direct me to replacement screws/bolts?

Thanks

Frank

Hi Frank,

Here are the Pool Motor Thru Bolts you will need if they are a bit long then you can cut off any excess with a hacksaw.

Thank You
