Potential air leak

Hello all. Just installed a new pentair VSP pump and have a couple of questions. The old hayward 2hp pump burned out and swapped it out. I am seeing some water bubles in the returns, especially at low speeds. At higher rpm not as noticeable as bubbles become tiny. Looking at the pump lid, I am not seeing anything major but rather lots of small bubbles which kind of concern me. It's definitely priming well and pushing the water fine. When i kill the pump, it is not losing its prime. I did a shaving cream test today but was not able to find any leaks. Any idea on how to approach this? There was no leak with the old pump, so im pretty sure it's not a leak below ground.

Do you have a saltwater chlorine generator?  They generate small bubbles when they are on (generating chlorine) and you may not have noticed them with your old pump.
