Pool WILL NOT clear

Guys I'm at the end of my rope. I have spent over a $1k dollars trying to get my pool opened. The water chemistry is in good shape but I can't get it to clear AT ALL. Nothing I try or put in it helps. At one time I had some phosphates but I used seakleer to get rid of them. I had some metals showing up also, but I used Magnet Plus to get rid of them. I've used every clarifier that they sell but nothing will "fall" to the bottom. I've vacuumed but it doesn't help any because nothing is at the bottom.

The pool is saltwater and is 35,000 gallons.

The pool store is almost giving up on it. I changed my sand last week as a last resort but nothing. I'm running my pump/filter 24 hours a day to try to clear it.

Full story, I didn't cover the pool over the Winter, nor did I run the pump...so the water started as a green swamp. It has been over 4 weeks since I've been trying to open it and the only thing I have accomplished is turning it from swamp green to milky blue. 

Please help because I'm am completely out of ideas.

This is the downside to a sand filter. They work great for maintaining a clear pool but not when there has been a bad algae problem. They have trouble filtering out smaller particles.

Have you tried a product called Pool First Aid by Natural Chemistry? It's the best stuff I've used for clearing up dead algae. 

We've also heard about pool owners having success by adding small amounts of DE to a sand filter. The DE powder will do a better job at catching the dead algae. You'd only want to add enough to cause the pressure gauge to rise one PSI. Start with a small cup of DE and mix that in some water. Pour the solution into the skimmer while the pump is running. Give it a couple of minutes and check the gauge. Add more DE if needed. The filter would need to be backwashed once the PSI rises 10 pounds above the starting clean pressure.

I have never used that before but I will be getting some if you think I should try it. I dumped a bottle of BioGuard improve Natural Result (pool enzyme cleaner) in there yesterday. The pool store gave it to me to try.

The Pool First Aid stuff is the best stuff we carry. I'd give that a shot and then try the DE powder. Come back and let us know how it turns out.
