I have a Hayward Super Pump C48K2N143B1 for my 33,000 gallon in ground pool. I'd like to upgrade to a variable speed for the energy savings and need help on finding a replacement that would allow me to swap out the systems with minimal fuss. Thanks.

We'd recommend the PureLine Prime model PL2605. It's a 1.65HP variable speed pump with 2" ports. It's a drop-in replacement for the Hayward Super Pump.

Is the 1.65hp strong enough for the 33,000 gallons I have in my pool (the pump is about 30 feet from the pool)?

Yes, it should be enough for your pool. You currently have a 1Hp uprated motor, which has a total HP of 1.1.
