I 'm trying to wire up my pool pump motor which is 230 ac I thought the wires were different colors when I toook them off so I didn't tag them .When I go to rewire the new Pump motor I find I have two black wires.Looking at the control panel there are two black wires going to the pump one is "Load out "and the other is" Line in ".Which one goes to L1

Most often on pool pump motors that run on 230 voltage both wires will carry 110 - 120 voltage so either wire would be attached to both terminals. However, to confirm more so, we would nee the specific model of the motor.

I have the same situation - two black wires ; 230. I just bought a ECM16SQU which should arrive tomorrow. Can I hook up the wires to either terminal? Thank you.

Yes, when you have 230-240 voltage going to the ECM16SQU you can place either hot leads on either L1 or L2 as both wires carry 110-120 voltage. Please refer to this manual if you need it prior to the motor delivery.
