Hello,

My pool pump is overheating and causing the breakers to shut off.  I've replaced the capacitor but that's not helping.  The pool is around 10,000 gallons, salt water with a spa and waterfall going into the pool.  Here are details on my equipment:

Motor Pump = Hayward Super II 2HP (Max Rate, Single Speed)

Filter = Hawyard Pro-Greid Vertical DE4820

Piping = 2"

I need to replace the motor.  Should I replace it with the same motor or can I upgrade to a Hayward Tristar, Tristar 900 or Tristar 950?  I've been told different things regarding the size of the piping and the HP of the pump.  I'd like to save money on energy which is why I like the Tristar edition.  I'm not sure if which version I need.  Can you provide your recommendation?

Thanks!

I'd recommend replacing your motor with the ECM27CU. The ECM27CU is a 2.7HP variable speed motor that will bolt up to your existing Hayward Super II pump housing.
