I do not plan on running my pool this winter. What do I need to do to keep my pump from freezing, do I need to drain it?
Also what about my filter with my cartridges, does it need to be drained allso?

Yes, we recommend removing the drain plugs and letting the pump and filter drain. Most people store the plugs inside the pump basket so they are easy to find in the spring.
It's ok to leave the equipment outside but if they are on unions, I'd disconnect them and move them to a garage or shed. They'll last longer if stored inside.
