pilot tube burst, raypak r406a-en-c

2018 startup and found the pilot tube had a split in it as if it had a freeze rupture. Also noticed that the blue wire going to the pilot had the insulation melted. Very puzzled. Talked to RayPak tech and he said rollout at least for the melted insulation and maybe water in the pilot tube during the winter. How would water get into that tube?

Hello Stephen - We contacted a Raypak rep. Below was his response.

There can be excess moisture contained in the gas. That is why we require a sediment trap/drip leg in the gas line- at a change in direction prior to the line's entry into the heater. Do you know if the heater installation, in question, included such?
