I have a Pentair Quad DE filter that I have been fighting with since day 1. My most recent frustration arose when I went to reassemble the filter parts after cleaning. The bottom portion of the manifold is aligned with the pipe in the bottom of the tank, but it doesn't snap down into it, it kinda just floats there. Is it supposed to be wobbly? I ask this because when I reattach the top of the manifold, the metal spring keeps the filter lid from sitting down into the bottom. What does this stupid spring do? Do I need it? Am I not connecting the bottom of the manifold correctly?
