I added a new Pentair 342001 SuperFlo VS Variable Speed Pool Pump, 1 1/2 HP.  Now with the higher pressure, we sprung a leak at the 30 year old Hayward S200 filter between the filter canister and the black filter head.  It took a week for this to happen.  Should I try to remove the head and wrap it with Teflon tape, or just replace the entire “Old” filter so the life of both devices will be aligned.  This is our last house and we will not ever be moving.

I also need to know if I need a bigger filter for this extra horsepower pump; basically how do you size a filter to a pump.  I have notice that with this new pump, there is much more water pressure in the pool outlets and there are ripples of water in the entire pool, where before you could barely see water coming out.

Thank you for contacting Inyo. The S200 is designed to handle 44 gpm. The SuperFlo, on higher speeds, will produce more than that. I would recommend something like model S244S
