My current pool motor just "Hums" when I go to turn it on.  I have checked the impeller and was not able to dig anything out of it. I was also able to get a screwdriver in and rotate the impeller, this did not help get the motor running again. I do not think I need an entire replacement of the pump, I should just need a new motor. If this motor is original to the pool, it is about 11 or 12 years old.

Our pool is an inground 20x40 saltwater pool with roughly 33,000 gallons of water. Two returns, two skimmers, and a main drain at the bottom of the deep end.  I have attached pictures of my current set up and would like advice on what to replace it with.  I have only owned a pool for less than a year and am still very new to everything.  I'm pretty handy and plan to replace the motor myself.

If you need any additional information please let me know and i will do my best to get you what you need!

In that case, you'd want to go with part number  5270-05.

Hi Rob, thanks for the information! I see the capacitor you listed is rated at 25uF, but it looks like the one inside my pump is a 30uF.

I opened it up and took a picture.  Will this cause any issues?

The run capacitor for your motor is part number 5270-08. Check out our article titled "How to Test a Pool Pump Capacitor".

If you end up needing the complete motor, the replacement is part number B2854.

Thanks for the information! That sounds like a much cheaper fix than replacing the entire motor! I'll have to pull that little cover off and see which capicitor I might need. It would make sense too for how the motor is acting!

Hey, had the same problem with my motor, After I troubleshot I found out the Run Capacitor(located on top of motor under cover) was bad, If you don't find anything binding up as far as the motor and the impeller is concerned that probably the most likeley culprit. you can either buy at the pool store or go on INYO to see if they carry yours. Hope this helps, I know it's fustrating.
