I ordered and received the multi-port valve assembly and my question is....... I was told that the selector handle should be turned the same direstion each time. For example: If the handle is pointed at (filter) and you decide to go to (waste), turn the handle in a clockwise direction and when you decide to go back to filter, continuue in a clockwise direction back to filter and DO NOT turn the handle in a counter clockwise direction as this causes problems with the gasket. Is this true?

That is true, Marty. Try to always go in one direction, clockwise or counter clockwise. There is a good chance that the gasket will get pinched if you go back and forth.
